Shopify gives a company a ready-made e-commerce platform to build on, but how the store performs depends on how the catalogue, buying journey, payments, delivery, markets and integrations are set up in it. We build and take over Shopify stores for companies that want to concentrate on selling and not maintain the server infrastructure of an e-commerce platform themselves. Before starting we also assess the limits - if a business process does not suit Shopify, we recommend another solution.
When Shopify is a justified choice
Shopify is a strong foundation when the platform's standard approach matches your sales model and your specific needs can be met without disproportionate customisation.
A ready-made e-commerce foundation
The platform already provides the core functions for products, orders and store administration, so development can concentrate on your catalogue, design, checkout and integrations.
Shopify maintains the platform infrastructure
Shopify manages the hosting of the platform itself and its infrastructure updates. The store's theme, apps, integrations, analytics and custom modifications still have to be maintained.
Less infrastructure to look after
Scaling the infrastructure of the core platform is managed by Shopify, so your company does not have to design and maintain an e-commerce server environment itself.
Selling in several markets
Shopify Markets lets you configure different markets, languages, currencies, prices and product availability in one store. We assess the specific options together with the plan and the payment solution.
What we do in a Shopify project
Custom design
We adapt or build a Shopify theme to suit your brand, catalogue structure and purchase process, while keeping store administration easy to follow.
Payments
We configure and integrate the card, bank and other payment methods available to the project. We also assess the fee terms applied by payment service providers and by Shopify.
Delivery
We set up the parcel locker, courier, pick-up point and other delivery scenarios the project needs, using the Shopify apps or integrations available.
Languages and markets
We configure the store's languages and markets, localise the content customers see and test the checkout for each market included in the project.
Technical foundation for SEO and analytics
We put the indexable structure, metadata, redirects, analytics set-up and other technical prerequisites in order. Search rankings cannot be guaranteed by the choice of platform alone.
Before we build, we check whether Shopify suits your business
Send us information about your product range, markets, payments, delivery and existing systems. We will assess the main requirements and reply within one working day.
We establish the catalogue, markets, languages, prices, payments, delivery, order process and the integrations required.
Planning the store
We define the catalogue structure, the shopper's journey, the theme requirements and where Shopify's standard features are enough and where customisation is needed.
Build and integration
We build or adapt the theme, configure the store and set up the apps, integrations and product data flows required.
Testing
We test products, variants, prices, the cart, payments, delivery, emails, analytics and the main order scenarios, on mobile devices as well.
Launch and handover to your team
We prepare the store for launch, explain day-to-day administration and, after go-live, can continue developing the theme, integrations and functionality.
Shopify's advantage is a standardised foundation - with clear limits
Shopify reduces the need to maintain the infrastructure of an e-commerce platform yourself, but that does not mean every business requirement is worth solving with one more app or a complicated workaround. Before development we establish what the platform itself provides, where theme customisation, an app or an integration is needed and where a requirement already calls for a different architecture to be assessed.
We also look at the long-term costs, such as the Shopify plan, payment fees, paid apps and external services. The aim is a store your company can understand, manage and develop after launch as well.
Frequently asked questions
What does it cost to build a Shopify store?
Development costs depend on the scope of the theme and design, how ready the product data is, the markets, payments, delivery, integrations and custom functionality. The costs of the Shopify plan, paid apps, external services and payment processing have to be assessed separately. Before starting we define the scope of the project and prepare a proposal.
Is Shopify suitable for selling in Latvia and in other markets?
Yes, Shopify can be used for selling in Latvia and internationally, but before a project we check the payment and delivery solutions, languages, currencies and tax configuration needed for the markets concerned. Shopify Markets lets you manage a different experience for each market, though some features depend on the Shopify plan and the payment solution used.
Can we move to Shopify from another store?
Yes. Before a migration we assess the products, the customer and order data, the URL structure, the integrations and what Shopify can take over without loss of functionality. We prepare redirects and technical SEO for the migration, but keeping search rankings cannot be guaranteed.
